0.9% NaCl or Hartmann's solution should be administered with the addition of 10% dextrose to those under 1 month and 5% for those under 1 year. The following may help in constituting these solutions:- 0.9% NS 5% DW Remove 15ml from 500ml 5%DW bag & replace with 15ml of 30% sodium chloride. 0.9% NS +10%DW Remove 15ml from 500ml 10%DW bag & replace with 15ml of 30% sodium chloride.
